Dr. Nancy Mangold is Professor of Accounting and the Director of China America Business and Education Center at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). She received both her Ph.D. degree and MBA degree in accounting from the University of California, Berkeley in 1984 and 1975 respectively, and her B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1971.
Dr. Mangold has been teaching at California State University, East Bay since 1984. She has taught numerous graduate accounting and finance courses for Executive MBA and MBA students in Beijing, Singapore, Graz of Austria and the United States. She has published a book and was the author of several research reports and published cases in the area of cost management. In 2003 she was nominated by California State University, East Bay for California State University System Wang Family Excellence Award for Outstanding Professor.
In September 2005 she was the World Bank appointed expert to China Ministry of Finance on Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging. As theUS expert she spoke at an international conference on Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging to Chinese accounting policy makers and Chinese experts in Beijing in September, 2005. She was appointed an Honorary Professor by the Research Institute for Fiscal Science of China Ministry of Finance in November 2005. She is the first US professor appointed to be a professor at the Research Institute for Fiscal Science, China Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Mangold was appointed by the World Bank in 2001as a special consultant to the People’s Bank of China (Chinese Central Bank) on the study of a Deposit Insurance System for China. She designed a financial reporting and auditing system for China Deposit Insurance System. In October 2002, she was the invited speaker for the China Deposit Insurance System International Conference sponsored by the People’s Bank of China. Her work entitled “A Financial Reporting and Auditing System for the Deposit Insurance System in China”in both English and Chinese was published in Deposit Insurance System Research in December 2003 by China Finance Publishing House.
Dr. Mangold directed CSUEB Executive MBA program in Beijing from 1999-2001. She also conducted many executive management-training programs for Chinese government officials and business executives since 1993. Her students include many high level government leaders from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Tianjin municipal governments and other provincial governments. Since 2000 Dr. Mangold has conducted several bank management training programs for managers from different Chinese commercial banks.
She was a speaker for several banking conferences in San Francisco sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and California Asia Business Council. She was frequently invited to be a speaker for the Bay Area World Trade Center. KRON TV in San Francisco Area invited her for an interview to discuss issues related to “US Trade with China” at its Morning News on October 12, 2005. She helped organize and participated in Governor Schwarzenegger’s banking roundtable in Beijing during Governor’s trade mission to China on November 16, 2005. She is currently working with China Banking Regulatory Commission on a bank management training program for Chinese bankers to be held in April 2006.
