Hong-Phong Pho Commerce Country Desk Officer for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, U.S. Department of Commerce Mr. Pho serves as the Commerce Country Desk Officer for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in the Market Access and Compliance (MAC) division of the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. As MAC country expert for the assigned countries, he is responsible for collecting and analyzing information on the trade and investment and environment in his region, and to develop and implement strategies to address market access and agreement compliance issues affecting U.S. companies. As part of his duties, he participates in trade negotiations aimed at gaining greater market access for U.S. companies, representing the Commerce position at inter-agency meetings. He consults regularly with U.S. industry to collect input regarding trade policy, trade negotiations and trade capacity building needs, and counsels companies on possible approaches for resolving market access and compliance issues. He also provides advocacy support for major projects through collaboration with the Advocacy Center. Phong is originally from Vietnam. He is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. |
