Stephan Crawford
Director, United States Commercial Service, San Francisco

As director of the United States Commercial Service in San Francisco, Mr. Crawford manages the U.S. Department of Commerce’s trade promotion programs in San Francisco. Past positions have included a temporary detail to the U.S. State Department as the economic and political officer at the U.S. Consulate in Duesseldorf, Germany, and most recently, a temporary assignment as the acting Regional Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala. In addition, he served previously as staff to Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown’s liaison in California.  Mr. Crawford began his career advising firms in Silicon Valley on national security- and foreign policy-based export controls.   

Mr. Crawford earned his BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California, was an Adenauer Scholar at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, and holds a Masters in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston, Massachusetts.
