Managing Director, IMA Asia (International Market Assessment - Asia Pty Ltd)


IMA Asia assists companies with demand forecasting in Asia via a combination of detailed macro-economic analysis and regular in-country assessment of demand drivers with the support of local clients in 12 Asian markets. IMA Asia is an associate of the Economist Corporate Network in Asia, which provides briefings on political, economic and commercial developments across Asia. IMA Asia is also a member of the Asia Expertise Network (AXP), which assists companies assess business trends in Asia. Richard Martin, the managing director of IMA Asia, has been assisting companies and governments assess Asian markets since 1980, when he joined the Hong Kong office of the US advisory firm Business International. From 1982-85 he was BI's Asian Research Director, leading a team of research staff on 15-30 projects a year across 14 countries for Fortune 500 clients. Following The Economist Group's acquisition of Business International in 1985 he was made Director of Southeast Asia with responsibility for establishing the regional office in Singapore and launching ECN programs across Asean. In 1989, he transferred to Australia and co-founded IMA Pty Ltd. He is the founding editor of a number of regular reports on demand trends in Asia, including the Asia Pacific Executive Brief, Asia Demand Watch, the Asia Forecast Book, and Asia Market Assessment Profiles.
