“Vietnam – California: Discover Business Opportunities in
High-tech Electronics, Wire & Cables and Mechanicals”
Tuesday, April 08, 2008
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
San Francisco, Location TBA
One year after joining the WTO, Vietnam is maintaining its economic momentum with GDP growth rate at 8.5% (second to China). Total FDI reached a record of more than $20 billion with a high rate of project implementation. Total ODA funds surpassed $5 billion reflecting a continued strong commitment from donors. At this half day event, you will be updated by Senior Officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) on improvements in trade and investment conditions in Vietnam, and opportunities for California businesses.
For the last few years, many American manufacturers in IT, electronics and related sectors have chosen Vietnam as a production base – often in conjunction with production elsewhere in Asia. What has sparked this new strategy? Is it better sourcing based on an a pool of abundant skilled and diligent workers who easily grasp new technologies? Or is it favorable conditions that keep improving in compliance with Vietnam’s commitment to WTO? Or both?
This meeting offers a platform for American companies to meet up with 22 Vietnamese manufacturers in High Tech Electronics, Wire & Cables and Mechanicals to discuss cooperation possibilities.
