	Join us as we welcome incoming Consul General Nguyen Ba Hung and learn about his perspectives on US-Vietnam business: the prospects, opportunities, and hurdles.  Hear what he wants to accomplish during his tour in the Western US to build US-Vietnam trade and investment. Bring your questions, business-specific concerns and engage in a productive dialogue.  About the Consul General  Consul General Nguyen Ba Hung was appointed as Consul General of Viet Nam in San Francisco in July 2011.  He was previously Director General of the Americas Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Nguyen served as Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington, D.C. Mr. Nguyen joined the foreign service in 1987 and in subsequent years has been assigned to the Americas Department.  He was promoted to Deputy Director General of the Department in 1998, then Director General in 2007, a position he held until his posting in San Francisco.  While leading the Department, he also was appointed to head the Viet Nam's Office for Seeking Missing Persons three times in 1998, 2006 and 2010.   He has been a key player in the development of Vietnam-U.S. relations, especially in their humanitarian cooperation on the American POW/MIA matter. Mr. Nguyen earned his Master of International Public Policy degree at the John Hopkins University in 1996.  He was a fellow at Georgetown University in 1995. He studied International Public Law at the Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands, in 1990-1991. Mr. Nguyen speaks Vietnamese, English and French.
