1st Annual"New Silk Road" Award
to
Dan Chao of Bechtel

group's first "New Silk Road" Award for outstanding contributions
to California-Asia business to Dr. Daniel K.H. Chao of Bechtel Enterprises,
San Francisco (second from right). The award was presented Friday night (May 2) at Cal-Asia's 9th annual "Asia Night" dinner, held at the new Asian Art Museum. Enjoying the moment are (left to right) Lyz Ferguson of Bay Area Family of Funds, who served as Asia Night chairperson; Bill Lee, San Francisco city administrator, who was master of ceremonies; and (Ms.) Jeremy Potash, Cal-Asia's executive director. Dr. Chao is the volunteer chairman of the non-profit trade group. He was presented the award for his high standard of integrity in global business; for helping make Bechtel an engineering and construction leader in Asia, creating exports and jobs for other American companies as well as for Asian vendors; and for helping other U.S. firms achieve their goals through his volunteer work for Cal-Asia and other organizations.
